Description: We are a Christian homeschooling support group of about 60 families with children ranging in age from preschool to high school seniors. We have group classes in the fall and the spring that meet once a week on Monday afternoons at Browncroft Community Church. During the winter, we put on a hockey and figure skating session on Tuesday mornings at S.I.R. We have field trips and occasional special events. The last two years, we have put on a drama. We have Spanish classes that run all year long as well as a Biology lab. Meetings vary depending on who schedules them and where they're being held.
Requirements: Yearly membership fee of $38. Each event has its own fee. Parents are free to pick and choose which events they would like to participate in. We require parents to help clean up one time during group classes if they take a class. Parents are not required to teach a class. We do ask parents to be responsible for their own children at all times.

Family Educators Resource Network (FERN)

Description: FERN is an informal networking group for home educators in the areas of Columbia, Rensselaer, and Albany counties in New York and in Berkshire county in Massachusetts. FERN operates as a computer-based "newsletter" for activities, resources, and information to supporthomeschooling families and those interested in home education.

Our group meets throughout the year for various functions and fieldtrips. The highlight of our group is when we come together at Believer's Chapel for 8 weeks, usually February and March, for a Science and Literature Pre-school program and a K-12 program of Art, Gym and Literature or another class.

Description: Our group was founded in the spring of 2001. Since that time our group has steadily increased in size. Today (2005), our group has expanded to over 30 committed family participants and a mailing list of over 50 families (encompassing Allegany, Cattaraugus, and Steuben counties in NY, and Potter county in PA). We are an eclectic mix of home educators, diverse in our methods, curriculum and idealogy, but united in our purpose of educating our children at home. Although primarily a Christian group, all families flexible in observing group policy are welcome and encouraged.
